Storms and Rainbows...

This year we have had some pretty mild weather...only a couple real thunder storms and only one tornado warning. I am not about to complain...I don't mind storms. I just don't like to be home alone with the kids when a tornado is a possibility. Call me a baby, but when Jon is gone and the weather gets bad, I pack the kids up and head over to my parents!
A few weeks ago Jon was home when the weather turned icky...so I felt safe and we stayed home! As the sky got darker we turned on the radio to listen to the weather. Soon we heard the tornado sirens going off in town. Just as we were ready to head to the basement for safety the phone rings. Lisa was done with work so since we only live 2 blocks from her work, could we go pick her up. Jon was more than willing...he hopped in the car in pour rain with the tornado sirens blaring to go 2 blocks to get Lisa. The kids and I headed to the basement. Soon Jon and Lisa came back and we all enjoyed dinner in the basement!

After the storm was past we all got in the car to bring Lisa home. We literally followed the rainbow to Papa Wayne and Grammie's house. Such a lovely site. The picture below has been edited a great deal...but it is so neat looking. What is it about a rainbow that is so captivating!? Jon even pulled over on the side of the road a couple of times so we could photograph it!

When we got to Grammie's house the kids discovered a huge mud puddle from all the rain! Good thing Elsie thought to wear her mud boots.

A storm, rainbows and water puddle...a perfect day, in my opinion!

James is back in his no shoes phase...and with no shoes and oodles of mosquitoes this little guy had to stay in daddy's arms. It was almost bedtime...so this sleepy little guy didn't mind too much!

Every child needs mud boots and plenty of mud puddles...
