Jon had been working for 2 weeks strait without being home...so Elsie was more than happy to sit on daddy's lap for some cuddle time!
My entire family has one problem when it come to get togethers...We always make far to much food! No one can possible go away hungry at our family gatherings! We had several salads, potato salad, beans, jello, watermelon, corn on the cob...so much food!
The 3 little girls got a table all to themselves! I think Elsie only ate knox blox and a few bits of corn on the cob...oh and lots of candy from the parade...good thing the 4th only happens once a year!
a close up of Elsie's festive skirt...love that skirt!
Relaxing time...we all sat around all afternoon and visited and just enjoyed each others company...it was a perfect relaxing kind of day!
The kids enjoyed going down the slip and slide...Ceara was trying to talk Elsie into being the first one down the slide...
Eventually Elsie went down with auntie Emma...than she realized how much fun it was and she would not stay off the slip and slide!
The guys played more bocce ball...I think they were making up some new rules as they played...they managed to never play in the same place twice...they went all around the house playing the game!
Water sprinkler fun...
The kids were having fun seeing how much water they could catch in the cups...children find the simplest ways to keep entertained!
Before to long Elsie was brave enough to go down the slip and slide all alone!
She would end up in the pool of water at the end of slide shouting "again, again, again!" After her going down about 100 times she stared to lose interest!
We left most of the food out on the table all day...so the kids ( and everyone else) were constantly grazing...the kids were always walking around with watermelon...Love this picture of Elsie eating watermelon with the 4th of July crown on...it is a picture that completely represents a carefree summer! All the little girls were wearing these crown...so cute!

thanks for hosting this year's 4th of july celebration - it was great!! it was a very relaxing afternoon and the kids had a great time playing in the water - and the food was super, too. i love the Fourth - it is definitely one of my favorite holidays - and we're so lucky that our little town has such a big celebration, too.
