Lettuce...

This year we planted a few things in our little garden space...lettuce, spinach, carrots, tomatoes and peas. The kids have been enjoying eating the food fresh from the garden...something about being able to pick your own food makes it taste sooo much better...at least in a child's mind it certainly does!
At our house a favorite meal is Taco Salads...so we have been going out to the garden with our little red basket and the kitchen scissors quite often to cut some lettuce...

Even James gets into "helping" he reaches into the lettuce and pulls a little handful of greens, throws it into the basket and walks away. In all reality lettuce is one thing James just cannot manage to eat...no matter how small we cut it up he manages to choke and gag on it! Someday he will like it!

I will be sad when fall is here and we no longer have fresh lettuce in the garden...after eating this the "fresh" stuff from the store just won't be quite as good!
