There were tons of people on the lake for the fishing contest...some of them were the classic Minnesota red-necks and I got a good chuckle! A lady in her pajamas, city-its in tennis shoes, people with grills to cook up hot dogs in case they go hungry, a self-proclaimed Ice-Fishing Princess complete with a sash! Gotta wonder at some...That said we are quite the red-necks also! As my husband drove us out on the lake with my dad's old pick-up he managed to get off the plowed path and had snow flying everywhere all while the pick-up was shaking and making very loud noises! Needless to say I saw a couple people grab their cameras to take pictures of us! I kinda wanted to hide...especially as my husband began shouting out the window to all the people watching saying, "kinda rough driving over here" and "Don't worry, we'll make it!"
Anyhow...we made it to the lake...with missing mittens...but we made it! James was quite happy to sit on Papa Wayne's lap and help him fish.
After all this fishing James took a super long nap...close to 2 hours! While that is normal for most babies it never happens with James!
There were several guys fishing in our little group...some with poles in multiple holes...but nothing was caught! Better luck next time...Love this picture...Look how thick the ice is!
Uncle Colter...This boy takes fishing very seriously...
Jon...being Jon...never serious for more than one minute!
Jon does not have much time when it come to fishing...he lacks the patients to sit and watch the bobber...I think it just might be his ADHD kicking in! Jon goes to events like this to socialise...he just walks around until he finds someone to talk to...
When it came time for us to head home I oped for walking back to the car rather than risk that red-neck pick-up ride again...it was a long walk from practically the middle of the lake to the van!
After we were all cozy in the car and the kids all buckled up Elsie decided she really didn't want to go home after all...so she talked her daddy into staying a bit longer! After fishing we warmed up by the fireplace at my parents house and enjoyed a big family dinner of tacos and passed the evening with sledding in the dark down the twinkle-light lined hill! A fun day... My favorite days are the days when we are all together as a big family...having fun together, creating "warm fuzzies" for the kids...Family is everything!

I would love to try this out. Very neat.
Oh wow! Looks cold and fun. My husband would love that, me on the other hand, I prefer fishing when it's warm! Maybe I'll have to try that one of these days!
How fun! You're one amazing mom. :)
Hope you'll come visit my blog too.
