This year our house was all decked out inside and out for Christmas...Christmas is my favorite season...and I just might go over bored decorating a bit...this year we had 5 trees in out house! ( and I bought a 6th on the after Christmas sales!) I vowed to never have have a fake tree...but last year our real tree tipped over, left a mark on the ceiling and a stain on the carpeting...so this year we broke down and bought a fake tree...with no needles and stains to worry about it was the best $200 spent!
We opened our Christmas gifts on Christmas afternoon this year...We spent Christmas morning at my parents house...so we opened gifts at our house at 3pm...still in our pj's!
Most three year olds are happy just to open their own gifts...but Elsie has such a caring heart that she had to go shopping and buy a gift for her brother...she was so excited to have him open it up! She was so excited to watch everyone open their gifts...having children with a giving heart is so important to us...too many children are greedy and don't understand the joy of being giving to others...
James was happy to sit on his new "Radio Flyer Retro Rocket"...he will have so much fun playing with outside this summer...
James was really more than happy to play with the packaging and the wrappings...Jon kept having to fish little bits of paper out of his mouth...we later discovered that James was working on getting a new top tooth...no wonder he was busy chewing on everything!
Opening up her "big" gift! We give the kids one "big" gift, one book and one one other toy or clothing piece...and one little Santa gift (a watch for Elsie and a Sippy cup for James)...and a gift from each other...and several stocking stuffers. I am sure things will change as the children get older...but this works well for now!
This year Elsie's big gift was a little CD player...and she loves it! She and James enjoy screaming (singing, maybe?) into the little microphones...and we all enjoy listening to Hannah Montana blasting from that little CD player! Whatever happened to our "no noisy toy" rule!?
And Jon always gets the parents worst nightmare...un-packaging and putting together all the gifts! It can be quite a job...especially when little hands are so willing to help! We later opened our stocking stuffers...but I was busy enjoying the moment with my little family that I didn't remember to take any pictures...imagine that! We had a wonderful little Christmas...filled with lots of good memories...
