Our light picnic lunch...deli cuts on crackers and chips...and little debbie for dessert...(Elsie I had GF chocolate chip cookies for dessert!)
Elsie enjoyed a few bites from a plum...she is enjoying all all the fresh summer fruits!
After a bite to eat the kids played for quite some time at the park...We tried to get a picture of the 3 kids swinging with their feet in the air...but it was kinda hard!
Elsie and mommy swinging together...
Elsie wanted me off the swing so she could swing all by herself! I really think she thinks she is about 5 years old...if her aunties can do it so can she!
The play area had great sand for making castles and digging in...so that is just what the kids did next...they each had a little pail and a spoon...
The kids showed Elsie how to make a sand castle...Elsie loved the sand castles! She kept knocking down the kid's castles...so my mom started making Elsie her own castles to knock over so she leave the kids alone!

yes, you're right - elsie is just getting too darned independent and she really does think she's about 5years old, i think!! our little kids were always that way, too - from hanging out with the older siblings. but it's a good thing - you don't learn anything new from always having to hang out with someone your own age, now do you?!
and about our picnic 'lunch' - i laugh when you write it was a "light" lunch --- because it was a JUNKY and fatty lunch, very out of the ordinary for us. but it was simple and easy, too - and that's what our spontaneous day was all about, right?!
it was a fun day - good memories!!
