Story Time...
Elsie loves story books...We try to go the Library every few weeks for new books...everyday Elsie pulls half the books off the shelves and plops down to look at them...Some times she imagines she is the character from a book...today she was Eloise!
Elsie has 2 favorite books from our shelves...one is "Queen of the Class" by Mary Engelbreit. Elsie knows the book by heart and always feels so bad for poor Ann Estelle when she is not chosen to be the princess...one day Elsie was almost in tears for poor Ann Estelle! Elsie doesn't just listen to a story book...she feels the book with that vivid imagination of hers!
She is Two...
This is a normal image of Elsie lately...she is two...need I say more? She quite often stamps her foot and says (in a very angry voice!) "mad" or "grumpy"...she throws little fits on a regular basis...she has a sassy disposition (thanks to her teenage aunties!) but can melt your heart when she sweetly says "I love you" and gives a big hug!
Her little fits of unhappiness never last long...she always starts to giggle...fights to keep a smile back and all is good again! I think two is going to a challenge...but a super fun challenge!
Photography by Elsie Jane...
Since I am always taking Elsie's picture she decided to take my picture yesterday...the camera is a little to heavy for her to hold up by herself...so I had to just support the lens...and she told me to "smile" than clicked the picture! What a photographer! I am sure she meant to cut my head out of the picture!

Room for 2...
We are borrowing a gym mat for Lilly to lay under...2 children seem to fit just fine under the mat! Every time we lay Lilly under the toy Elsie thinks she needs to lay under it with her...and point out all the toys to her...as you can tell from the picture Jon had to keep a protective hand close by Lilly...Elsie can move far to fast!
See how well 2 fit!? Elsie thinks that no part of her can be off the mat as she lays under it! Silly girl!
Hunting Season...
Now that hunting season is upon us the kids are expected to wear orange hats outside to play...The kids all think the orange hats are a special treat to get to wear them! I found Elsie's vintage orange hat at an estate sale this summer for just 50 cents!
She loves her orange hat...and it looks so stylish with a rainbow sweater...what a colourful girl!

Happy Birthday...
Our computer is not working quite right again...so I am way behind on posting! The day after Halloween we celebrated Elsie's 2nd Birthday while we were down south...
Elsie was so excited that it was FINALLY her party day...she had been waiting for a long time! She put on her birthday crown and was ready to celebrate...
Everyone sang Happy Birthday...even though she was being bashful about all the singing, I know she loved it! When it came time to blow the candles out she had to call for auntie Emma to help...2 candles are a lot for one girl to blow out!
Eating the cupcakes...daddy and Elsie made the chocolate cupcakes and mommy frosted them and added the "sparkles" as Elsie calls sprinkles...
Time for gifts...Elsie kept taking auntie Emma's hand and placing it on the gift so she would help open...When it is the kid's birthday's they always let Elsie help...so I guess Elsie was returning the favor! It is so sweet to see Emma and Elsie working together!
Elsie got lots of fabulous gifts...like a new umbrella!
And Magneatos...these are super fun magnet sticks...Elsie loves them!
What a party...Ana and Brandon were nice enough to open their coffee shop for us to use for the little party...There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out!
One more picture of opening gifts...for days before her birthday Elsie would look at toy catalogs and point to everything and say "Birthday!" meaning she wanted it for her Birthday! When we would ask her what she wanted she always reply with "Cake and Poppy!" For some reason she really, really wanted a poppy pillow for her birthday...she has a mind of her own!
Elsie had a very good birthday party...and on her really Birthday last Wednesday she had another Birthday surprise...her aunties Missa and Emma got to spent the night at our house! And Grandma B. came over with gifts...and she got a singing birthday card! Can you possibly think of a better Birthday? Happy Birthday 2 year old girl!

Halloween...
We spent Halloween in Blue Earth this year with Ana, Brandon and Oliver...it is a long car ride...but Elsie and Lilly road quite well! Elsie was so excited to see Oliver and to go trick-or-treating...
All the kids looked so cute in their costumes...
We started trick-or-treating by walking around the neighborhood...we must have looked like quite the crew! People probably saw us all walking up their house and turned out their lights!
I think Elsie made the cutest little bee...Lilly fell asleep...and we forgot the stroller so Grandpa, Jon and I all took turns caring her...
Love this picture...notice the baby bottle in my back pocket!
Elsie was so excited every time she got candy to put in her basket...she was most excited about the dum-dum's and skittles!
Halloween...
Our Halloween celebrations started last Thursday evening with a trip to Grandma B.'s house. We dressed up 2 little bee's, complete with sparkles on the cheeks...and went off trick-or-treating to Grandma's house...
Grandma had far too much candy to fill Elsie's little bucket with! Elsie's favorite was the little pumpkins...I think ate most of them in one night...and could not sleep well that night due to all the sugar! Good think Halloween only comes once a year!

Growing Up...
Elsie is growing up...and becoming quite independent! She lugs her little chair around with her were ever she wants to go...we have a chair in the bathroom, the kitchen, the bedrooms...if she can't reach it her answer is to stand on a little chair!
Her favorite thing to do is stand by the kitchen sink with the water on a little so she can "wash" the dishes...she gets water all over the counter and floor...but she has so much fun that it is worth it! Every time I wash dishes she comes running, pulling her chair behind, stating that she going to help me...I just don't quite know what to do with such a good helper! I wonder if washing dishes will be as much fun when she old enough to have chores? I think I better take advantage of this now...so make sure you think twice before eating off the clean dishes at our house...they are being "washed" by a 2 year old!
Baby Bee...
Last night we tried Lilly's Halloween costume on her for the first time...and she makes the most adorable baby bee! Elsie is dressing up as a bee as well...with sparkles on her cheeks and nose!
I didn't get any pictures of Elsie in her costume yet...tomorrow night we will be dressing the kids up to go trick-or-treating at Grandma B's house...

Gettin' the Mail...
Last week when the kids were at our house for a visit we pulled put the baskets of dress-up clothes. They kept themselves busy all afternoon trying on new outfits...when they were dressed as ballerinas they decided to out and get the mail...never mind that it was cold enough for snow! I love this picture of Emma...she looks so confidant!
At least they both remembered winter hats and boots!
Halloween Candy...
Yesterday Elsie I filled some little candy bags for the aunties (and Uncle) for Halloween...skittles, candy corn and pumpkins...
I think Elsie ate 4 pieces for every one she put in the bag...and I am pretty sure the kids just might find some half-eaten pieces in the little bags!
