It's a Boy...

This afternoon Jon and I went to a studio to have some 3D pictures of the baby taken...and we found out the baby is a Boy! From the very beginning of this pregnancy both Jon and I have had a feeling this baby was a boy...and we have been picking up a few blue clothes just in case we were right!
Elsie is thrilled that she is going to have a brother...for weeks she has been going back and forth saying the baby is a girl one minute only to change her mind and say it is a boy the next!
We have had both girl names and boys names picked out since the beginning...we could not agree on a girl name...we all agreed on the boy name right away...so soon we have a little James Hawthorne in our family... Now if only we didn't still have to wait until the end of July...

A Little Bride...

Elsie has discovered the photo book of our wedding...and she loves to look at the pictures...her favorite ones are the ones of me wearing the "bride dress and the pretty crown"(Elsie's words!)...
One evening I took the box off the shelf in the closet the has my dress, veil and tiara...Elsie was so excited to try the veil and tiara on...she stood in the mirror admiring herself! She now says when she is older is going to marry daddy and she is going to wear mommy's veil and crown! Love the way a toddler thinks!

Happy Birthday Everyone...

Grandma B. has been so good to provide us a meal a week since I have not been feeling well with contractions...and she usually makes a gluten and dairy free dessert to go with the dinner! One week she brought over a chocolate cake and some frosting...Elsie quickly decided that we should dye the white frosting pink...
Elsie assured me she was not eating any...but I think I caught her red-handed...or is that pink-handed!
After Elise frosted the cake she insisted it needed some candles...and we had to sing Happy Birthday using various names...
After singing it was only fitting that Elsie blow out the candles on the Everyone Birthday Cake...I love these pictures...you can really see how hard she is working on blowing out all those candles!
The only time we have cake is on someones Birthday...so I guess it was only fitting that Elsie assume it had to be someones Birthday!

Hearts...

I am just a little behind on posting...our computer has been down...so here are our attempts at craft projects for Valentines day...big red hearts, lots of glue and even more sequins...and one very creative little girl...
In the end we wound up with half the bag of sequins spilled on the floor under the table...but Elsie made 2 lovely (and very sparkly) hearts to hang up on the wall...

Daddy Time...

Elsie has been quite a Daddy's girl lately...and I think Daddy is loving every minute of it! On weekends Elsie is never far from her Daddy's side...she even had to go shopping with him yesterday!

Elsie brings Daddy stacks of books to read...then cuddles in for story time...and when Daddy watches a movie Elsie needs to sit close by...
Elsie has always been more of a Mommy's girl...but when I have bad weekends of lots of contractions I relinquish all control to Daddy...and I guess it has proven to be okay!
Love this one...Daddy is always making goofy faces for the camera...
Cookies, a good movie and a great Daddy to cuddle with makes for one happy little girl!

Time for a Swim...

A Couple weeks ago Jon, Elsie and I met my family at the local pool for a fun afternoon of swimming and lounging in the hot tub...
This is my favorite picture of swimming...my brother Colter sitting in the hot tub (which is not deep!) with his flippers and snorkel...good to know he is prepared for anything!
I even managed to squeeze into my swimsuit so I could sit on the edge of the hot tub...my belly feels far larger than it looks!
The whole group...
And no pool time is complete without a snack...Emma and Elsie shared so many potato chips that Elsie got a canker sore on her lip!
Reading the paper, enjoying snacks, imagining we were sitting outside in the 90* weather...
Had to post a picture of Jon...Jon is famous for making weird faces in photos...so when I have a good one of him I feel I must share it!

We had a fun afternoon...going to the pool is a good way to break up a cold winter with a little summer fun!

First Trim...

A few weeks ago Elsie went to the salon for her first hair cut! She was so excited before we went...we had been talking about having her hair done for a few weeks before the appointment...and when the day finally came she woke up super excited! She even had to go through Mommy's jewelery box for a necklace and bracelets!
She sat very still for the trim...I think she was totally enjoying herself and didn't want to leave!
In the end the trim was less than 1" off...just enought to even up the ends and cut the fine baby hair off...but it was just enough to bring back some of the curls! Elsie even got hair gel in her hair and a blow dry...so it was a good day for her!

Dress Up...

A few weeks ago Elsie had her aunties Marissa and Emma over for a play day...and they talked Elsie into getting all dressed up in her fancy clothes so they have a little photo shoot! Marissa was the one that set up the photo shoot...they made her bed all fancy, fluffed the pillows and then begged me to please let them use the camera!
Auntie Emma even got in on some of the pictures...so cute...

Knitting...

I think Elsie is going to be a knitter...she loves to sit on Lisa's lap as she knits! Sometimes Lisa uses the great big needles and Elsie gets hold on to the ends and help! I love this picture...Elsie is really working hard on knitting...she even has her tongue out!
What a lucky girl to have so many crafty aunties...Elsie will never have an excuse of idle hands!

Granola...

We have a new favorite snack...granola with lots of raisins! My sister Ana emailed me a good and simple recipe for granola...and with all the protein and iron it is just right for a healthy breakfast!
Elsie seems to think the best place to eat it is by crawling up on the counter and helping herself! I am just happy she thinks such healthy snacks are a good treat!
